Community Development Education strategic plan $8,000 urgently required
We aim to commence Community Development Education projects in poor villages in 2012. CDE uses a community-based participatory development approach to empower communities to overcome poverty, disease, and hopelessness. CDE is a proven strategy already being used by over 150 organisations working in more than 70 countries.
In a CDE program community volunteers are equipped and empowered to, amongst other things:
- improve sanitation, preventing disease
- enhance agriculture, increasing food production
- create new enterprises, escaping dependency
- utilise appropriate technologies, fostering sustainability
- share the gospel through lifestyle witness
Can you help give towards the $8,000 needed? This money will employ a researcher / team leader in Myanmar to complete a detailed strategic plan we can use to approach funding organisations for more substantial amounts of community development funding, in order to launch works in poor communities in 2012.

Anthony & Vicki Ware Support Raising $1,700 per month faith goal
Anthony & Vicki have commenced raising personal sponsorship, to fund multiple visits to Myanmar each year, to facilitate the launch of multiple DE projects by 2012. Next trips are planned for June-July 2011 and November 2011 - you would be welcome to join a team
None of this support goes towards personal or living expenses, simply to the cost of travel and programs.
This is a substantial faith goal, and we would greatly appreciate ongoing support of any amount to sow into seeing CDE programs launched in this needy country.

Winepress takes on Gin Bawi project
Our really big news is that due to greatly strengthened commitment from Winepress church for Gin Bawi and the Mandalay project, we are now handing over all financial support and administration arrangements to them from 1st April 2011.
This move allows Community Transformation to focus on launching Community Development Education and other poverty alleviation/church planting projects in Myanmar by 2012.
The Gin Bawi project originated when Rob Koch travelled to Myanmar on a missions trip with Operation Mobilisation in 2005, and I (Anthony) then met Gin in Mandalay on a CT missions trip later that same year. Winepress was approached, and became the primary sponsor for bringing Gin to Australia and putting him through Harvest Bible College. Gin was on the staff team at Winepress throughout the time he was in Australia. It is therefore very pleasing to see the strong commitment Arthur and Winepress now have made to the Gin Bawi-Mandalay. It is exciting to see the multiplication of missions vision and passion for Myanmar, with others stepping in so wholeheartedly.
I will visit Mandalay this June-July, as Gin starts classes during the new academic year. Anyone interested in travelling to Mandalay with me mid-year would be most welcome! Community Transformation will also be arranging trips to Myanmar in approx November and February, if anyone is interested.

In a nutshell ...
Community Transformation (or CT) is a Christian faith-based not-for-profit organisation. We conduct both development and mission projects in Myanmar, and are non-denominational. What sets CT apart is our focus not on children or individuals, but on empowering whole communities for total transformation.

Ongoing Strategy ...
Our ongoing strategy is two fold:
- Help train, release and support church planters, like Gin Bawi, who will build churches that share Christ authentically in culturally sensitive ways; and,
- Partner with poor communities in Myanmar and journey with them over the long term through CDE projects. This means helping empower them to break out of the poverty cycle, to build healthy communities and allowing them to evaluate the claims of Christ.
The organisation was established in 2003, when Anthony and Vicki Ware returned from 8.5 years service in Thailand with another organisation. Ian Grant and Don Gall have been board members since 2003. Rob Koch and Derek Tucker both joined the team in 2006.
The year 2010 marks the launch of a new era, with additional team members, an expanded vision and a new governance structure. 2010 sees us formally registering with the Australian Government as two separate not-for-profit companies, one for our mission program and one as our development arm.
